François-Paul Journe, Founder Montres F.P. Journe

A multifunctional book

François-Paul Journe is one of the most influential independent watchmakers of the modern era – a radical innovator who has been consistently developing his own solutions since the 1980s and founded his Manufacture F.P. Journe in 1999 in Geneva.

  • Official company name: Montres Journe SA
  • Motto: Invenit et Fecit – Invented and manufactured. All movements are designed and built entirely in-house.
  • Relevance: Journe deliberately positions itself against the industry that uses ETA base calibers – it consistently builds its own systems.

Montres Journe S.A. developed master watches such as the „Resonance Chronometer“, in which two independent mechanical movements operate, whose balances synchronize each other.

The „Tourbillon Souverain“ with Remontoir d’égalité (constant force) also caused a stir. In 2004, François-Paul Journe received the „Aiguille d’Or“ at the GPHG. The Sonnerie Souveraine earned the Aiguille d’Or again in 2006 – no other watchmaker has won this award three times in a row.

With the „Centigraphe Souverain“ one measures hundredths of a second despite the 3 Hz movement. In 2008, F.P. Journe received the Aiguille d’Or for the third time.

François-Paul Journe approached us with a book project/catalogue. In the book there was a fixed unchangeable part and a constantly changing catalogue section. Montres Journe S.A. still uses this communication tool today.
